UDRUGA ZA RAZVOJ ZAJEDNICE "KREAKTIVA" (Croatia)

The association was founded to improve and advance the status and quality of life for youth in the community by implementing various activities which will enable the protection of members of vulnerable groups - children, people with disabilities, the elderly, women and the unemployed in the rural areas of the region where we live and are active. (website - www.kreaktiva.hr).

We are active in Osijek - Baranja County, which is facing exodus of young people from suburban and rural areas.

Aim of the NGO is to provide support to community development through capacity building of each individual practical application of modern methods, to strengthen the capacity of non-profit, for-profit and public sectors on the basis of cooperation and partnership in the development of different services on a local, national and international level and to establish good cooperation and linking different sectors in order to develop civil society as a whole.

In order to achieve the objectives of Association several of our members are performing different activities in rural areas of our region Slavonia and Baranja. In the past years our president has worked with women in rural areas on a project where they were educated for production of vegetables, fruits and flowers in plastic greenhouses. After that successful project she applied project for associations formed by those unemployed women from rural areas and they were buidling small plastic greenhouses in kindergartens and elementary schools in the region.

Also, currently she is working with small communities with another association in rural part of Baranja helping smaller NGOs to try to gain experience by attending different workshops and project in the region and across border, because large number of people speak hungarian and they are very advanced in the sector of craftsman ship and small communities working together.

Several projects (Erasmus+) were implemented with organisation from Hungary where our organisation participated only by sending people from small comunities in Baranja and Slavonia, not as partner in the project. The partner in those several projects was Association of Hungarians in OBC. This project will be a great way to transfer gained best case practices regarding possibilities for young people in rural areas, how to fight certain issues they face and still stay in the rural areas promoting its best assets and values.

Other activities are as following:

• Empowerment and community development based on the principles of sustainable development and human values

• Promoting equality of all citizens respect of class, race, religious, national, cultural and other differences

• Raising awareness of young people and other community members on sustainable development, the importance of

education, entrepreneurship, self-initiative and volunteering for the purpose of sustainability of each individual

• Raising awareness of young people and other community members about culture, creativity, art, preservation of historical, cultural heritage and traditions in order to preserve the values of the community and society

• Raising awareness of young people and other community members about the ecology, recreation, healthy and alternative ways of life to improve quality of life

• Promoting acceptance and tolerance of differences and particularities of community members

• Developing projects at the local, regional and international levels in line with the objectives of the Association

• Improving the social and economic status of marginalized, vulnerable and / or socially excluded groups, particularly children and young people

• Institutional and non-formal education of young people and other citizens (children, people with disabilities, the elderly, women and the unemployed)

We are trying to contribute to our aim by cooperating with other small NGO in the region and by taking part in and leading various workshops which are in the area of our expertise and to promote values such as tolerance, freedom of speech and any other personal freedom.

Our president Sanela Ravlić works as a project manager in Croatian Employment Service Regional Office Osijek and is actively engaged in labour market.

Last few years our youth workers have taken part in TCs regarding this thematic and last year we have applied a project of similar thematic but for youth workers in rural areas. Our TC was designed to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes of youth workers and youth leaders working with a main target group: young people in rural and suburban areas struggling with social exclusion, poverty, unemployment and so develop in them a new spirit for challenges and initiatives. We wanted to let those youth workers understand the importance of reflection that must become concrete action, starting for example by re-evaluation and developing of their ideas, to be used in a functional and sustainable way in their local with the other youngsters during their youth work. Our NGO had a strong desire to implement this project in a large partnership since we are facing an exodus of young people from suburban and rural areas and also a lack of entrepreneurial approach to exploit rural resources. One of our junior trainers works as a promoter of youth entrepreneurship in a small rural area of our region and also supports small businesses in the area as adviser.

We have implemented several YE regarding better empowerment of young people in our region since it is very important to allow young people to learn more about their role in the society and take action from an early age with support of their peers and other stakeholders in their local community - MOVA YP" (KA1 - 31 participant), Human values from A to Z, H2O (Helsinki 2 Osijek) and #OSBRIDGES.

"MOVA YP" was a 9 days youth exchange for young people in difficult position and less opportunities (16-25 years) where we have implemented series of activities that allowed young people to test themselves and also learn more about their own and others personal beliefs, standards and values. Communication is the key to let others understand us and also to learn what other think and want. Each day we allowed them to go more in depth and tested everything they say or do regarding their point of view. These activities are in line with project that we are currently applying, mostly through objective - "Understanding how communication works acquiring and exercising communication skills". Beside that we are also supporting our members to get involved into activities and workshops that are following trends in social network. For that, it is necessary to learn what is personal branding and visual identity, thus gain knowledge about digital video production process.

We have implemented another project in 2016 "Human values from A to Z" which was a youth exchange for young people from rural area that lasted 12 months and had several steps. Our members visited Belgium and their young people came to Croatia. We constructed several activities for them in order to empower them to become "small change agents" in their rural communities in the future regarding different values and how they can help young people in rural areas to change their perspective, thus their future.

H2O (Helsinki 2 Osijek) was a Youth exchange with the overall goal of the project is to raise awareness of different issues through informal education and to include several related topics such as human rights and to enable young people to handle this issue in everyday life easier to handle. We also explored the impact of different roles of young people and their impact on personal and professional development, the impact of political, social and cultural life on each individual, and to examine their role (responsibilities and rights) in this process.

#OSBRIDGES The aim of this project is to learn about other cultures and to make possible for young people in Osijek and its suburbs to experience them and also to present our town, culture, country to groups participating in this exchange program. The exchange was achieved via informal education emphasizing learning from each other and by experiences. By means of accepting and getting acquainted with different cultures and customs as well as multi-cultural co-operation we would like the participants to become more tolerant toward others who belong to different culture and country and to raise their awareness of the importance of co-operation not only in their own life and their communities but for the better future of a changing Europe and all its inhabitants.
